Will the Jeep Cherokee Feature a Trailhawk Trim?

Stellantis announced that with the relaunch of the Jeep Cherokee, it will revive the off-road version known as the Trailhawk, a trim that was last sold in 2023 when the previous generation of this midsize SUV was discontinued.
Although the company did not specify a date—limiting itself to releasing an image of a headlight—its debut is expected to coincide with that of the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, which will hit the U.S. market later this year as a 2027 model.
Trailhawk variants are considered more capable Jeeps than the base versions and bear a “Trail Rated” badge.
According to Stellantis’ off-road division, the badge “represents a proven standard of capability, validated through rigorous real-world testing in environments such as the Rubicon Trail, one of the world’s most challenging and iconic off-road trails.”
Last April, the brand held the Easter Jeep Safari, an event that included an off-road tour in the mountains of Moab, Utah.
At the event, Jeep unveiled a Cherokee prototype featuring Trailhawk characteristics. The prototype, dubbed the “Cherokee Upland,” offered “a creative interpretation of the model’s design language, blending form, function, and attitude into a more expressive vision of the Jeep brand’s hybrid 4×4,” the brand stated at the time.
The sixth generation of the Jeep Cherokee went on sale earlier this year as a 2026 model with a hybrid powertrain as the only option.

El vehículo se produce actualmente en la planta de ensamble Stellantis ubicada en Toluca, Estado de México, a la par del Jeep Compass y próximamente, del 100% eléctrico Jeep Recon.
Sin embargo, la automotriz multinacional lleva a cabo una importante inversión de 600 millones de dólares en Belvidere, Illinois, para producir tanto la próxima generación del Jeep Compass como un volumen adicional de Cherokees a partir del 2027.
