Women-Owned Businesses Are Targeting Foreign Markets

It has been estimated that 15% of companies led by women in Querétaro seek to participate in foreign trade, either through exports or an international presence, according to reports from Dayane Toranzo González, president of the Women Entrepreneurs Association of the Querétaro Chamber of Commerce (MECC).

For this reason, the association is now seeking to significantly increase its revenue by launching a new globalization strategy that tests the waters for these Querétaro-based companies in Spain.

This project aims to provide support to companies seeking to expand into foreign markets. The chamber’s mission is to serve as a guide for the necessary customs services and to offer certified training. Under this strategy, companies will be evaluated to establish an export process.

For now, the strategy is focused solely on the Spanish market; however, studies will be conducted to analyze opportunities for these companies in the United States, France, and Latin American countries.

The chamber's representative in Spain, Rebeca Monroy, highlighted the potential of the Spanish market for Mexican products; she also emphasized that Spanish business leaders view the state of Querétaro as a gateway to the Mexican market. Ten products from Querétaro are already the top potential export items.

In addition, they are working on a project to establish a space for exhibiting these products, where they plan to showcase various handicrafts, coffee, and other items from several municipalities.
