KIA will invest US$650 million to produce the EV3

Kia announced a US$650 million investment in Mexico to expand its production capacity and manufacture the EV3 in the country—an electric vehicle currently assembled in South Korea.

The announcement was made during the federal government’s morning press conference and represents one of the most significant investment projects in the automotive sector so far this year.

The investment will be used to strengthen the company’s manufacturing operations in the country, at a time when manufacturers are seeking to optimize their supply chains and bring production closer to major export markets.

Mexico has established itself as one of Kia’s main vehicle manufacturing hubs since the launch of its plant in Pesqueria, Nuevo Leon, from which it supplies both the domestic market and various export destinations, primarily the United States.
