Heavy-Duty Vehicle Industry Sees Accelerated Wholesale Sales
The heavy-duty vehicle industry has maintained a positive trend in wholesale sales during the current period, with growth in both the cargo and passenger segments. The National Association of Bus, Truck, and Tractor Manufacturers (ANPACT) has presented the results of the wholesale channel’s performance, which supports its expansion and cumulative growth for the period.
During this period, wholesale sales of heavy-duty vehicles increased by 19.1%, while retail sales decreased by 9.9%; production rose by 51.8%, and exports increased by 66.7%. On the other hand, looking at the cumulative total of heavy-duty vehicles from the beginning of the period to the present, wholesale sales have increased by 5.1%, while retail sales have decreased by 20.1%; production and exports have declined by 6.1%, in contrast to the same periods in previous years.
In light of the data, ANPACT has emphasized the importance of maintaining a presence in the domestic market through measures that strengthen it and can drive fleet renewal, as well as creating conditions that will help consolidate the recovery of the heavy-duty vehicle industry. They also highlighted the importance of continuing to improve conditions for exports.
In this regard, “we are continuing our constructive and open dialogue with the Mexican government led by President Claudia Sheinbaum during the USMCA negotiation rounds, in which we believe it is necessary to preserve the principles that have made the USMCA a success in recent years—such as clear rules and conditions of certainty that promote investment, the integration of production chains, well-paid jobs, and regional competitiveness,” said Alejandro Osorio Carranza, Director of Public Affairs and Communications at ANPACT.
ANPACT has also called for an adjustment to the tariffs that are harmful to economic activity along the border.
