Secihti and AMD Will Train AI Talent

The Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation (Secihti) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen Mexico’s scientific and technological capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing, semiconductors, and the training of specialized talent.

The agreement aims to establish a joint agenda of academic activities, workshops, seminars, and research and technological development initiatives; in addition, the collaboration seeks to expand national capabilities in technologies that have become strategic infrastructure for scientific research, innovation, and industrial competitiveness. Meanwhile, AMD participates in high-performance supercomputing systems such as Frontier and El Capitan.

Peña notes that the collaboration aims to harness the knowledge, talent, and infrastructure available in Mexico to develop its own capabilities, while for AMD, the collaboration represents an opportunity to expand access to advanced computing capabilities in Mexico and link them to scientific sectors.
