Genux Invests $165 Million in Solar Projects
Genux, a regional renewable energy developer, has announced the winner of its Lagartija and Ocelote solar projects, located in the State of Mexico, which will mobilize an investment of approximately US$165 million, adding 201 MWp of solar capacity to the National Electric System.
The award was presented following Genux's participation in the 2026 Binding Planning process, which strengthens the company's presence in the Mexican electricity market as it moves forward with the goal of securing more than 5 GW of projects under development in Mexico, Colombia, Peru, and Argentina.
Lagartija and Ocelote together provide a total of 201 MWp of solar photovoltaic capacity, supplemented by a battery energy storage system (BESS) that enhances the stability of the region’s power grid. It is estimated that once operational, the projects will contribute approximately 490 GWh annually to the National Electric System—enough energy to power more than 150,000 Mexican households—while preventing the emission of approximately 250,000 metric tons of CO₂ equivalents each year.
These projects by Genux already have assets in the country, including the 252 MWp Panaba wind project with storage, located in Yucatán, which was selected in the first round of its Binding Planning process.
These projects reflect Genux's long-term commitment to the development of the country's energy infrastructure, contributing to the goals of expanding, modernizing, and strengthening the National Electric System.
