Querétaro’s Aerospace Sector Is Growing

The aerospace sector in the state of Querétaro has reported that it has exported US$5 billion each year over the past three years, thanks to the double-digit annual growth it has experienced, according to Aerocluster President Jatziri Barrios.

“We’ve been growing at nearly double-digit rates every three years; so, the truth is that the aerospace sector continues to be a pillar of the economy in Querétaro,” she said.

I would like to emphasize that the aviation sector has remained stable, thanks to the leading companies, as well as the small and medium-sized businesses that continue to invest in the state.

“By investing in Querétaro—infrastructure investment, expansion of facilities, and new plants—this will be a year with very good results,” She established.

The aerospace cluster brings together 75 companies in the industry, accounting for 95% of Querétaro’s entire aerospace ecosystem. However, it has been made clear that the sector continues to face challenges in attracting talent, which is why a call has been issued to young people to pursue careers in the state’s aerospace sector.

“Let them look for job opportunities, let them look for internships, let them seek training in this field,” she said.

The head of the aerospace cluster has confirmed that, in addition to talent, another challenge the sector has faced is the integration of the supply chain into space-related processes, as this would be of great help in supporting the sector’s growth.

In addition, the cluster is now focused on developing suppliers, primarily small and medium-sized enterprises in the state.

The aerospace sector has grown by 10% since last year in the state of Querétaro, with growth projected to reach double digits this year.

It is worth noting that Querétaro is home to one of the companies in the aerospace cluster that attracts the most foreign direct investment in the country: Bombardier.
