Guanajuato Seeks to Support 60 University-Based Startups

Guanajuato has begun developing 60 university projects by providing machinery, tools, and furniture so that young people from 18 educational institutions and 20 municipalities can begin expanding their productive activities and transforming their academic proposals into business models with growth potential.

The selected ventures are part of the food, services, construction, textile, and metalworking sectors—areas that are integral to the state’s various economic activities. Sixty projects were selected from among 99 proposals submitted by 33 educational institutions, following an evaluation conducted by an interdisciplinary committee.

Through this initiative, it is hoped that the young people in the “Lideres que Emprenden” program will have the resources to apply their knowledge, launch operations, and strengthen projects that will help them attract customers, generate income, and move toward formalizing their businesses.

Similarly, participants will be able to obtain machinery, tools, and training, in addition to connections with companies. Among the mechanisms is also the Industrial Simulation, a strategy that will bring entrepreneurs into contact with anchor companies to learn about their needs, requirements, and potential opportunities for supplying goods and services.

In addition, support will be provided to formalize businesses, register trademarks, develop new models, and foster business partnerships—all of which can increase the likelihood of consolidating operations and reestablishing commercial relationships for these projects within Guanajuato’s productive ecosystem.
