Baja California’s Exports Grow 5.8%
Baja California has recorded exports totaling US$27,8 billion during the first half of 2026, representing a 5.8% increase, according to the Secretary of Economy and Innovation, Kurt Honold Morales, based on figures from the Quarterly Exports by State (ETEF) report published by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
According to government data, the figure represents an additional US$1,5 billion in foreign sales and placed Baja California in fifth place nationally in terms of export value, behind Chihuahua, Jalisco, Nuevo León, and Coahuila. The state accounted for 7.9% of national exports for the half-year, surpassing states such as Guanajuato, Tamaulipas, and Sonora.
Between April and June, state exports totaled US$14,917.8 million, a 9.0% year-over-year increase, compared with the 2.3% growth recorded in the first quarter.
The main growth came from subsector 334, through the manufacture of computer, communication, and measuring equipment, as well as other electronic equipment, components, and accessories—a group that includes activities in the electronics industry and the manufacture of electronic medical equipment.
Between January and June, its exports totaled US$9.3 billion, up 23.4% from a year earlier, representing an increase of US$1.7 billion. In addition, it accounted for 33.7% of Baja California’s total exports. In the second quarter, it posted year-over-year growth of 30.9%, with exports totaling US$5 billion.
