Chihuahua Boosts Aerospace Exports

Chihuahua’s aerospace industry has continued to grow in international markets, reaching US$1.1 million in exports by the second quarter of 2026—a figure that represents a 17.2% year-over-year increase compared to the US$965.2 million recorded during the same period last year.

According to information from the Center for Economic and Social Information (CIES), based on data from the Ministry of Economy, aerospace exports accounted for 1.3% of Chihuahua’s total foreign sales during the reference period, cementing this activity as one of the state’s high-value-added manufacturing sectors.

In terms of foreign trade in transportation equipment, the aerospace sector accounted for 12.9% of exports, after this industry recorded international sales of US$8.7 million in the second quarter of 2026.
This growth is also reflected in market diversification, as Chihuahua’s aerospace industry maintains a commercial presence in 24 countries, even though its main export destinations are concentrated in North America and certain strategic markets in the Americas and Europe.

The United States has become the leading destination for the state’s aerospace exports, accounting for 85.6% of shipments, followed by Brazil, with 4.9%; Canada, with 3.7%; and Germany, with 2.8%. Collectively, the top three markets—the United States, Brazil, and Canada—account for 94.3% of the sector’s exports.
The breakdown of sales also highlights the role of companies specializing in the manufacture of aircraft components and structures. Among the leading exporters are Honeywell Aerospace, Bell, Textron Aviation, Bombardier, Safran, and Embraer.

With the growth recorded during the first half of the year and the presence of exporting companies in 24 countries, the aerospace sector continues to play a key role in Chihuahua’s manufacturing sector and has expanded its ties with international markets, particularly with the United States, the state’s main trading partner.
