Women Represent 30% of Queretaro’s Aerospace Workforce

The aerospace sector in Querétaro has a workforce of 15,000 direct jobs, 30% of which are held by women, according to Jatziri Barrios Porras, president of the Querétaro Aerocluster.

In this context, the businesswoman noted that women are represented across the board, from operational roles to management and highly specialized positions, such as senior technicians, inspectors, metrologists, and engineers.

The agency's goal is to build on this trend through educational projects coordinated among the private sector, academia, and the state government.

Barrios Porras thus attributed the increase in the number of female staff to the work strategy based on the triple helix model, as well as to the promotion of specific programs that encourage young women's interest in scientific and technological careers.

“Women make up 30 percent of our workforce, and they are represented at various levels: in operational roles, as senior technicians, inspectors, metrologists, and engineers—and women also hold leadership positions in the industry,” he said.

The program called “Women in Science” is one of the flagship programs, through which experts and industry professionals visit high schools to motivate female students and encourage them to join the aviation sector.

Finally, the cluster’s president emphasized that collaboration with the Ministry of Labor and educational institutions helps strengthen the training of local talent, in addition to ensuring equitable opportunities for development and meeting the growth needs of the state’s aerospace industry.
