The governor of Querétaro, Mauricio Kuri González, has aunched the third phase of an urban development project and a new stormwater drainage system, with the work involving an investment of more than US$326,396, according to the state government.

The project is expected to benefit more than 2,600 residents and includes 1,412 m² of mortar-set cobblestone paving, 325 m² of curbs, ramps, and sidewalks, and two traffic signs. In addition, 154 meters of stormwater infrastructure were installed, and 265.25 meters of sewer infrastructure and 252.53 meters of drinking water infrastructure were replaced.

The general coordinator of the State Infrastructure Commission (CEI), Sonia Carrillo Rosillo, noted that the project was carried out to address the problems caused in the area during the rainy season. She emphasized that the approximately 900-meter-long drainage channel collects water through seven grates and carries it to the San Juan River.

The official reported that the town, located in an area near the center of San Juan del Río, has seen various public works projects carried out in recent years, with a cumulative investment of US$1.1 million.
