Querétaro to establish consortium of industrial MSMEs

Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the industrial sector continue to focus on manufacturing finished products and, to complement their capabilities, working to integrate five consortia.

Sharing the progress, the president of the Querétaro Association of Industrial MSMEs (Amiqro), Cuauhtémoc Acevedo Toledo, reported that one of the central purposes is to achieve domestic production and create a proprietary brand.

This is one of the first steps to consolidate the consortia in order to continue developing prototypes; Acevedo Toledo revealed that they are looking to break into the home appliance industry

“We already have about five consortia that are coming together to create, first, the prototypes—which are among the most advanced projects. We have some very interesting appliances there; the basic principle behind these appliances involves an electronic device that will be patented, so we will also file a patent based on those products,” he said.

He also noted that this project will lead to the development of electronics patents, and they are already working with consultants in that field. Meanwhile, in collaboration with other companies, they will incorporate plastic injection molding processes, among other things.

“Some finished products require plastic injection molding; they require the electronic component that we already have—which is the one we’re going to patent—but now we really need a factory for mass production, and we’re going to talk with the leading electronics companies here in Querétaro. that’s where we’re starting to bring together consortia and investors, because these are very large projects that, ultimately, will allow us to create our own brand—which is the most important thing—and proudly made in Querétaro and in Mexico,” he stated. These projects are part of the MSME association's agenda for this year and next year.

In the process of integrating the consortia, the strengths have been technological development and the availability of suppliers; however, one of the challenges is to consolidate the businesses and consortia on a legal and financial basis, so they will work with specialized law firms and agencies.
