Daido Metal will invest US$54 million in Tlajomulco
Construction has begun on Daido Metal México’s new industrial plant in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Jalisco, representing an investment of approximately US$54 million to expand the company’s production capacity through new infrastructure and equipment. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2027, with operations expected to begin in 2028.
The investment is divided into two equal portions of approximately US$27 million each. The first will fund construction of the new industrial facility, while the second will cover equipment installation. Through this expansion, the company aims to strengthen its production processes and incorporate advanced technologies to support its growth.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held at Daido Metal México’s facility along the highway to San Isidro, with company executives and municipal officials in attendance. The event included the kuwaire, a Japanese ritual marking the beginning of construction.
Tomomitsu Furukawa, president and chief operating officer of Daido Metal Co., emphasized that the construction of the company’s second plant in Mexico represents a strategic investment in its future and international expansion.
He added that the project is the result of coordinated efforts among teams in Mexico, Japan, and the United States, as well as support from the municipal government and the local community.
During the event, Mayor Gerardo Quirino Velázquez Chávez noted that the company’s decision to invest in the municipality again reflects its confidence in local conditions.
Other attendees included Yasuo Hibi, president of Daido Metal México; Yukihiko Kagohara, president of Daido Metal USA; Thania Morales Rodríguez, municipal trustee; Tonatiuh Zárate, councilmember of the Economic Development Committee; and Jairo Chávez González, head of the Strategic Sectors Division at the Jalisco Ministry of Economic Development.
