Spring Air to increase its manufacturing capacity in Mexico
Spring Air, the manufacturer of mattresses and bedding, plans to increase production capacity at its State of Mexico plant by approximately 25% over the next few years, while aiming to expand into more Latin American markets and close out this year with double-digit growth.
“We’ve just completed an expansion and are already planning the next phase of growth to increase our capacity over the next five years” said Claudio Cervantes, the company’s marketing director.
He said the company’s Lerma plant currently has the capacity to produce between 8,000 and 10,000 mattresses per day.
He also added that they continue to invest consistently in Mexico; however, he did not specify the budget used—according to the official—to recently upgrade the machinery and allocate resources to implement technology.
“We never stop investing because when you have the largest plant in Latin America, investment is a daily occurrence… We’re a company with investment in our DNA, and a significant percentage of our revenue goes toward innovation, technology, and machinery upgrades” said Claudio Cervantes.
Currently, the company exports to Guatemala, El Salvador, and the Caribbean, but it plans to expand into other Latin American markets.
“We are in talks with various distributors in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Brazil to see what opportunities we can develop over the next three years… I think there will be opportunities as early as next year,” said the executive, who noted that Spring Air controls the brand from Mexico to Brazil
According to Cervantes, Spring Air operates two plants in Mexico, which he described as the largest in Latin America. One of the plants occupies a 100,000-square-meter site, with 50,000 square meters of built-up space.
“We still have room to expand the plant further,” he said.
The company has also expanded its bedding plant, which can produce two million pillows annually, as well as sheets, mattress protectors, and mattress covers..
Cervantes expects the company to close 2026 with double-digit growth, driven by its sales and distribution capabilities—which enable it to serve various market segments—, with continued innovation, product diversification, and anticipated fourth-quarter sales.
