Aguascalientes Partners with Huawei Mexico and CENEVAL
Aguascalientes Governor Tere Jiménez led the Alliance to Promote Specialization in New Technologies, which brought together institutions of higher education, business representatives, and specialized organizations.
At the event, the governor signed, as an honorary witness, strategic agreements with Huawei Mexico and the National Center for Higher Education Assessment (CENEVAL) that will help expand opportunities for college students and faculty to develop skills in areas such as data science, artificial intelligence, software development, electromobility, and semiconductors, as well as other cutting-edge technologies.
These agreements will help supplement students’ education through technology certifications and microcredentials that will allow them to demonstrate specific knowledge and skills. In this way, in addition to holding a professional degree, they will be able to demonstrate the competencies they have acquired and their proficiency in areas related to the profiles sought by the business sector.
Luis Enrique Gutiérrez Reynoso, director general of the Aguascalientes Institute of Education (IEA), emphasized that one of the purposes of the meeting is to set goals for defining the development and updating of educational offerings in the medium and long term.
Esaú Garza de Vega, the state’s Secretary of Economic Development, Science, and Technology, highlighted the importance of this event.
“What we are signing today can become much more than an agreement; it can help strengthen the development of the first ecosystem in Aguascalientes where the government, educational institutions, businesses, and CENEVAL work together. If we can ensure that a person’s education, effort, and experience translate into demonstrable competencies, we will be achieving something very concrete: expanding their opportunities. That is the commitment CENEVAL is making to Aguascalientes,” stated Natarén Nandayapa.
Meanwhile, Carlos Faustino Natarén Nandayapa, general counsel and legal representative of the National Center for Higher Education Assessment (CENEVAL), spoke about the significance of being in Aguascalientes to formalize this partnership, expressing his conviction that Mexican talent can compete on a global level.
Likewise, Felipe González Carrasco, a senior strategic consultant at Huawei Mexico, emphasized that Aguascalientes has a great vision in understanding that digital transformation is not an option, but a strategic necessity.
“College students in Aguascalientes will have access to world-class professional certifications, and their employability will increase significantly, since companies based here, those that will come, and those from around the world need precisely these types of professionals—capable of operating, innovating, and ensuring the reliability of digital systems in the most critical and in-demand areas of the future, such as data networks, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity, among others,” concluded González Carrasco.
Also present at the event were Leonardo Montañez Castro, mayor of Aguascalientes; María José Ocampo Vázquez, chief justice of the State Supreme Court; Representative Emanuelle Sánchez Nájera, president of the Executive Committee of the Honorable State Congress; Lucía de León Ursúa and Salvador Alcalá Durán, state representatives; Juan Carlos Arredondo Hernández, president of the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes; Armando Ávila Moreno, president of the Board of Directors of the Aguascalientes Industrial Cluster; and Francisco Rangel Cáceres, director of Higher Education at the IEA.
