Aguascalientes Stands Out at ICE 2026
Aguascalientes has stood out in the Innovation and Economy and Labor Market sub-indices of the 2026 State Competitiveness Index (ICE), compiled by the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO), which examines the strengths and capabilities of the country’s 32 states in generating, attracting, and retaining talent and investment, the state government reported.
In the areas of innovation and the economy, the state ranked fourth nationally in foreign direct investment (FDI) and fifth in exports. The results also showed improvements in the labor market, a category in which the state ranked fifth in terms of lower wage inequality, according to the indicator related to income differences among workers.
The ICE studied the 32 states of the republic using 53 indicators grouped into six sub-indices, with the aim of identifying the strengths, progress, and challenges faced by each state. In this edition, the IMCO paid special attention to the conditions necessary to address technological changes and the new global economic landscape.
