AI Shapes the Future of FORVIA Clarion Electronics

FORVIA Clarion Electronics is automating its manufacturing processes through the implementation of robodogs, vision systems, and humanoid robots—technologies that have already been tested and are in use at the plant in San Juan del Río.

This strategy is part of the company's innovation efforts, which have transformed its information technology (IT) departments into artificial intelligence (AI) divisions that develop systems and methodologies applied across its various divisions to increase productivity, improve safety and quality, and optimize processes and reduce downtime.

Today, nearly 80% of the company’s plants use AI at various stages of development. Meanwhile, some are just beginning to implement these technologies, while other facilities already have much more advanced systems in place.
The use of this technology allows for its cross-functional application across the various plants, whose data and servers are linked, noted Etzail Vega, Director of Operations at FORVIA Clarion Electronics.

Vega added that integration also requires strengthening cybersecurity capabilities to prevent potential attacks.
In this regard, AI opens up two areas of opportunity: process optimization and the strengthening of operational capabilities.
However, this technology must be understood as a support tool for various areas, while decision-making remains the responsibility of humans, Vega made clear.

Some of the innovations developed by the company include the use of robot dogs for quality and safety, vision systems for final inspections, and a humanoid robot at the San Juan del Río plant.

“Both dogs and humanoids offer 24/7 advantages; they multiply your productivity. However, it’s important to clarify […] that they don’t replace people. What we’re doing here is focusing these vision systems on repetitive tasks, and allowing operators or technical staff to focus on innovation and decision-making,” Vega emphasized.
