Alfa Romeo Junior arrives in Mexico

At a launch event, the Alfa Romeo Junior SUV was unveiled, a model that takes its name from the legacy of the GT 1300.

The route, which started in Mexico City and ended in San Miguel de Allende, gave participants the opportunity to drive both versions of the Junior to experience the feel of this entry-level vehicle behind the wheel.

The engine powering the Junior is a 1.2-liter, turbocharged 3-cylinder unit, producing 145 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque, delivered to the front wheels and managed by a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It features three driving modes: Dynamic, Natural, and Advanced Efficiency.

It is a mild hybrid that achieves fuel efficiency of up to 12.8 miles per gallon in combined mode, according to its technical specifications.

Although the engine with which the Junior arrives in Mexico has the electrification level of a mild hybrid, the brand does not rule out the possibility of introducing the fully electric version currently sold in Europe in the future.

The Alfa Romeo Junior starts at US$40,000 for the Ti version and US$43,000 for the Ti Performance.
