AMETEK Invests US$25M in Tamaulipas
The United States-based company AMETEK plans to expand its operations in Reynosa and Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, with a total investment of US$25 million and the creation of 650 new jobs—400 in Reynosa and 250 in Nuevo Laredo—after considering other locations in different states.
Tamaulipas Secretary of Economy Anabell Flores Garza announced the expansion during a visit to AMETEK's facilities in Reynosa, where she met with company representatives to discuss the scope of the projects in both cities.
The company currently employs 2,600 people in Reynosa, according to a state government press release.
Flores Garza highlighted the decision as a sign of AMETEK's confidence in Tamaulipas' workforce and the state's industrial capabilities to develop specialized manufacturing processes.
The secretary said that, under the leadership of Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya, state authorities are working to attract new investments and support business expansions by providing assistance for their projects and strengthening coordination with the private sector to create more opportunities for communities across Tamaulipas.
AMETEK specializes in manufacturing precision components and technology solutions for a wide range of industries. Its operations serve sectors including medical, aerospace, and semiconductors, among others.
Representing AMETEK at the meeting were Rogelio Arteaga, Property Security Manager; Josué Olave, Finance Director; and Paula Carrillo, Finance and Insurance Manager. Ángel Ortiz Salazar, the McAllen Economic Development Corporation's representative in Mexico, also attended.
Representing Mexico's Ministry of Economy were Gladis Guerrero, Director of Industry Services; Brianda García, Head of the Investment Project Monitoring Department; and José Stolberg, Head of the Clusters Department.
The expansions are expected to boost industrial activity in Reynosa and Nuevo Laredo and strengthen Tamaulipas' participation in high-value-added production chains, according to government officials.
