ANAM exceeds US$6 billion in foreign trade

Mexico’s National Customs Agency (ANAM) collected US$6.9 billion in cash flow in June—an amount 15% higher than that recorded in May and the highest of the year, surpassing the previous high reached in March, when collections totaled US$6.6 billion.

The agency attributed the monthly increase to a higher volume of foreign trade transactions, higher revenue from the Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS), and a stronger exchange rate compared to May.

Value-Added Tax (VAT) remained ANAM’s primary source of revenue, accounting for 67% of total revenue at US$4.6 billion, representing a monthly increase of 8%, and marking the first time this year that revenue from this source exceeded US$4.5 billion, driven by higher import volumes and the exchange rate.

Manzanillo, Veracruz, Lazaro Cardenas, Tuxpan, and Mazatlan accounted for 78% of revenue from maritime customs; and among land border crossings, Nuevo Laredo, Ciudad Juarez, Matamoros, Colombia, and Tijuana accounted for 82% of the revenue collected.
