Andrés Conesa to Lead ALTA in 2026–2027

The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) has announced the election of Andrés Conesa, CEO of Aeroméxico, as chair of its Executive Committee for the 2026–2027 term. His appointment comes as the region’s airline industry seeks to strengthen connectivity, competitiveness, and sustainable development.

In this role, Conesa will lead ALTA’s Executive Committee, which coordinates the efforts of member airlines to promote safer, more efficient, accessible, and sustainable air travel across Latin America and the Caribbean.

Peter Cerdá, CEO of ALTA, highlighted the region’s aviation growth potential and expressed confidence that the new chairmanship would foster closer cooperation among airlines, authorities, and industry stakeholders to translate these opportunities into greater air connectivity.

Conesa thanked ALTA’s members for their confidence and reaffirmed his commitment to working with the organization’s members to advance an agenda focused on connectivity, competitiveness, and the sustainable development of regional aviation.

He also emphasized the importance of collective action to benefit millions of travelers and contribute to economic development throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

“It is an honor to receive this appointment, and I am grateful for the trust placed in me by ALTA’s members. I accept this responsibility with a commitment to continue working alongside our members to advance an agenda that strengthens connectivity, competitiveness, and the sustainable development of aviation in Latin America and the Caribbean,” Conesa said following his election. He also underscored the importance of collaborative efforts to improve the travel experience for millions of passengers and support the region’s economic development.
