Automotive sector contributes US$4.5 billion in exports

San Luis Potosi recorded a 99.9% share of manufacturing in the value of its exports during the first quarter of 2026.

According to data from the technical secretariat of the State Population Council (COESPO), during the first three months of 2026, the state ranked ninth nationally in total export value—with a total of US$6.2 billion.

The main contributor to the state’s exports was the manufacture of transportation equipment, a subsector primarily linked to the automotive industry. This activity generated US$4.5 billion in foreign sales during the first quarter of the year, a figure that represented 9.3% of the national total for exports in this segment.

The data highlights the importance of manufacturing within San Luis Potosi’s economic structure, particularly due to the significance of activities linked to the automotive supply chain, which is one of the state’s main industrial sectors.

The manufacture of transportation equipment remains one of the pillars of San Luis Potosi’s export activity, due to its ties to the automotive industry and the presence of companies that are part of international supply chains.

The state government noted that these results reflect the momentum toward economic development and job creation, as well as the strengthening of conditions for attracting new investments and expanding the state’s production capacity.
