BBVA Mexico appoints its Country Manager

BBVA Mexico made changes to its Board of Directors: the bank announced that Jose Luis Elechiguerra was appointed Country Manager, replacing Eduardo Osuna, who will become the new Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Elechiguerra holds a degree in chemical engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), a master’s degree in science and engineering, and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

Osuna joined BBVA in 1994 and was appointed vice president and CEO of the institution in 2015.

“Mr. Osuna will continue to contribute, in a non-executive capacity, to defining the bank’s strategy in Mexico, corporate governance across all subsidiaries, institutional relations, and regional councils, and will support services for wholesale clients,” the bank reported.

“Dr. Serra assumed the presidency in October 2018, succeeding Luis Robles Miaja. During his tenure, he led the institution’s corporate governance efforts, aligning them with international best practices in corporate governance,” it added.
