Pennsylvania-based packaging supplier Brentwood Industries Inc. announced is adding a new production line to its new manufacturing facility in Tijuana, just eight months after operational launch.

Last month, the company hosted a grand opening ceremony for this plant, which is its ninth overall but second dedicated to manufacture of medical packaging products.

The plant comprises of 35,000 sq.-ft. (3,250 m2) of footprint, including a 7,500 sq.-ft. (700 m2) ISO Class 7 clean room.

Company officials declined to disclose the amount of investment required for the expansion, but commented that around 100 job positions will be added. The new production line became operational earlier this month.

Brentwood Industries designs, engineers, and manufactures thermoformed plastic products for consumer, manufacturing, and environmental industries worldwide.

The company also provides medical products, such as components and devices, diagnostic housing products and packaging products, including consumer and protective products; and transportation products, such as automotive products, heavy truck products, and mass transit products.

Some of its customers already operate plants in Tijuana, such as Flex and Medtronics, hence the decision to establish operations in this border city.

Further, the company provides molding processes products, including heavy gauge thermoforming, injection molding, and light gauge thermoforming products; battery products, such as plate wraps, spacers, and in-process components; building products, including roof ventilation products and marine bulkhead products; and construction products, such as wheelbarrows and mortar products.

Formerly known as Brentwood Plastics, the family-owned company was founded in 1965 and is headquartered in Reading, Pennsylvania.
