Visscher Caravelle B.V., a Netherlands-based manufacturer of car mats, in recent days officially opened its first manufacturing plant in Mexico in which the company invested US$19 million.

Located at the Innovación technology park in the municipality of El Marques, the facility started operations last year with a staff of 150 workers which eventually increased to the current 500 strong.

At the opening ceremony, Visscher Caravelle's Global Operations Manager, Jacko Van der Stege, said that the company’s forecast looks so good that he did not rule out that the plant’s workforce will double in the short term.

The company serves most major automakers all over the World, but the Queretaro facility supplies mats and covers specifically for BMW, Daimler, Ford and Nissan.
