CENTA-CIDESI Obtains AS9100D Certification
The National Center for Aeronautical Technologies (CENTA), located at the Center for Engineering and Industrial Development (CIDESI), has successfully obtained AS9100D international certification, a quality management standard applicable to the aeronautics, aerospace, and defense industries.
The certification was granted by NQA (National Quality Assurance) based on the activities of the Physicochemical Testing Laboratory and the Airport Mechanical Testing Laboratory, both operating at CENTA facilities within the Querétaro Aerospace Park, in the municipality of Colón.
According to the official certificate, the quality management system was approved in October 2026 and will remain valid until October 2029, subject to proper maintenance and periodic oversight.
Through this recognition, the research center aims to strengthen its role in providing specialized technology services to companies in the aerospace industry, particularly in material evaluation and characterization.
The AS9100D standard establishes international guidelines for quality management systems applicable to organizations operating in the aviation, aerospace, and defense industries.
Developed by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG), the standard incorporates the principles of ISO 9001 along with additional requirements tailored to the quality demands of the aerospace industry.
Its implementation helps standardize processes, strengthen control mechanisms, and ensure compliance with the quality criteria required throughout aerospace supply chains.
Companies in the sector can benefit from working with organizations holding this certification, as it can facilitate supplier evaluations and the procurement of specialized services under internationally recognized standards.
For CENTA-CIDESI, the certification specifically covers the quality management systems of the previously mentioned laboratories and does not automatically extend to all services provided by the institution.
