Chihuahua Automotive Cluster Rebrands as Mobility Cluster

The Chihuahua State Automotive Cluster is rebranding as the Chihuahua Mobility Cluster, aiming to expand its scope to ten industrial segments, strengthen the supply chain, and develop new business opportunities across mobility value chains.

Jorge Alberto Charles Madrigal, president of the organization, said the new identity reflects technological and production changes in the automotive industry, as well as the need to leverage Chihuahua’s existing manufacturing capabilities to diversify its industrial base.

The strategy seeks to broaden the cluster’s focus to include ten segments, such as electromobility, heavy-duty transportation, recreational vehicles, agricultural machinery, mining and construction equipment, and specialized systems. This expansion is expected to help the organization identify new markets, strengthen supplier integration, and create investment opportunities for companies based in the state.

According to Charles, the cluster will become the first in Mexico’s automotive sector to formally broaden its scope to encompass the mobility industry. He also noted that Chihuahua aims to position itself as one of North America’s leading mobility hubs by leveraging its manufacturing expertise and developing higher-value-added activities.

The strategy also seeks to increase companies’ participation in design, technology integration, programming, and intelligent systems development, while preserving existing manufacturing capabilities.

The organization operates within the INDEX Chihuahua framework, belongs to the National Network of Automotive Industry Clusters (REDCAM), and collaborates with the National Auto Parts Industry (INA) and CAPIM. Its model brings together companies, academic institutions, and government entities.

Under its new identity, the Chihuahua Mobility Cluster aims to leverage the state’s infrastructure, manufacturing expertise, and production capabilities to attract new investment, adopt emerging technologies, and expand its presence in international markets.
