Coahuila Leads Automotive Investment in Mexico
According to the Report on Automotive Investment in Mexico for Q3 2026, prepared by Cluster Industrial B2B, Coahuila maintained its position as the country's leading destination for automotive investment. From January through September, the state accumulated US$1.4 billion across 14 projects. These results were supported by projects announced in previous quarters, as well as new investments in manufacturing, auto parts, and industrial infrastructure.
The state's performance came amid a moderation in domestic automotive investment. During the second quarter of the year, Mexico recorded US$2.8 billion in investments, while between July and September, the figure fell to US$1.23 billion. Despite this slowdown, Coahuila remained the country's leading recipient of automotive capital, supported by large-scale projects such as General Motors' US$1 billion investment to improve production capacity for the Chevrolet Groove and Aveo, as well as the US$147 million allocated by Clarios to an automotive battery distribution center.
Cumulative investments in the state have generated more than 5,302 direct jobs and account for a construction area exceeding 786,655 m², in addition to three projects related to electromobility.
During the third quarter of 2026, Coahuila reported six investment projects, primarily located in Ramos Arizpe, Saltillo, and Torreón. These initiatives include expansions of auto parts plants, new manufacturing operations, and industrial infrastructure developments involving both domestic and international companies.
