Continental inaugurates US$38-million expansion at Cuautla plant

German-based manufacturer Continental in recent days inaugurated a US$ 38.8 million expansion at its production facility located in the municipality of Cuautla, Morelos, dedicated to production of electronic components for the automotive industry.
The new areas will be used to manufacture devices such as chassis controls, transmission control units, electronic central units and other products for customers in Mexico, the United States and Canada.
The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Hans-Juergen Braun, leader of Continental Electronic Plants worldwide, as well as other managers of the company and representatives of state and federal authorities.
“It is very gratifying to begin operations of our latest expansion. This reflects how our clients and the management group of the company have full confidence in the quality of the work we do in Mexico and specifically in Cuautla,” said Dr. Braun.
This expansion comprises a total area of 28,000 sq.-mts of which 6,500 sq.-mts will be dedicated to production activities, 4,000 sq.-mts for warehouse and logistics, while the remaining space was used for offices and common areas, among others.
It is expected that, based on this project, between 200 and 300 new job positions will be opened.
The Continental plant in Cuautla has a 25-year history, currently has approximately 2,000 employees who manufacture the aforementioned products for more than 20 global customers.
