Embraer Mexico Begins Operations in Chihuahua
The Brazilian company Embraer has embarked on a new phase of industrial expansion in Mexico with the acquisition of a plant in the state of Chihuahua. The aerospace company launched its Embraer Mexico operations by taking full control of the EZ Air Interior Limited plant; the facility has become the company’s first wholly-owned manufacturing unit in the country, providing direct employment to more than 1,200 people.
The company previously announced that it had already completed 50% of the acquired plant, which still belonged to the French company Safran Cabin. It is important to note that EZ Air was established in 2012 as a joint venture between Embraer and the U.S.-based C&D Aerospace, which is now part of the French group.
During its 14 years of operation, the plant had manufactured a variety of components for the interiors of the E-Jets family of commercial aircraft, such as overhead luggage compartments, galleys, restrooms, and floor panels—products that are exported to Brazil, the United States, France, and Singapore.
With this integration, Embraer will no longer operate through a partnership and will instead manage the facilities directly in accordance with its own processes, corporate culture, and industrial model. The plant will continue to be dedicated exclusively to the company's programs.
Embraer operates in the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Europe, employing more than 23,000 people and ranking as the third-largest manufacturer of commercial aircraft, behind only Boeing and Airbus.
