General Motors has donated US$522,648 to fund engineering training in Guerrero.

As part of its commitment to quality education, community development, and fostering young talent, General Motors Mexico has donated tools, furniture, and specialized machinery valued at US$522,816 to the Technological and Polytechnic University of the Sierra de Guerrero.

The purpose of the initiative is to help improve the equipment in the institution’s engineering laboratories and to enhance students’ hands-on training, providing immediate assistance to 270 students; it is expected that, in the near future, this initiative will benefit approximately 400 students.

“At General Motors de México, we believe that our role is not limited to producing vehicles and operating plants. Our impact is also measured by how we contribute to the development of the communities where we operate and how we pave the way for more young people to build a better future,” said Paco Garza, President and CEO of GM Mexico. “This donation will enable students to develop knowledge and skills in settings that are increasingly aligned with the reality of the modern automotive industry.”

The handover of these materials took place at the GM Toluca Complex, with the participation of Paco Garza, President and CEO of GM Mexico; Artemio Ruiz, Director of the GM Toluca Complex; Luis Dircio, President of the Technological and Polytechnic University of the Sierra de Guerrero; Francisco González, Executive President of the National Auto Parts Industry (INA); as well as students and faculty from the university and employees of GM Mexico.

The provision of these benefits is part of the second phase of the initiative and support for the university, which has greatly benefited the university’s educational infrastructure, allowing students to now have access to tools and equipment used in real-world industrial settings.

Through this donation, GM Mexico reinforces the company’s commitment to quality education—one of the pillars of its corporate social responsibility strategy—and fosters the development of talent to drive innovation, competitiveness, and growth in Mexico.
