General Motors installs solar panels in Silao

During her visit to General Motors at the Silao Complex, Guanajuato Governor Libia Garcia Muñoz inaugurated the complex’s new solar panel installation—a project that reinforces the company’s commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency, and the responsible development of its operations.
The system has an installed capacity of 1,000 kW, will generate an estimated 1,960 MWh of clean energy per year, and will help prevent the emission of approximately 870 metric tons of CO2 annually.
The Silao complex is now General Motors’ second site in Mexico to feature solar panels, following the company’s Vehicle Distribution Center in Queretaro, where a photovoltaic system supplies the center with clean energy, significantly reducing energy consumption from conventional sources.
Thirty-one years after its opening, the GM Silao Complex has established itself as a strategic operation for General Motors in Mexico, guided by continuous improvement, safety, and quality, with a comprehensive vision that combines innovation, sustainability, and inclusion, and a strong, lasting connection to the Guanajuato community.
