GM Moves Up Start of Production for the 2027 Hummer EV

General Motors (GM) will move up the start of production for the 2027 GMC Hummer EV by two weeks to November 30, after previously setting December 14 of this year as the start date.

This was reported by GM Authority, which does not specify the reasons for this change, which applies equally to both the SUV and pickup truck variants of this high-end electric vehicle produced at the Factory Zero plant, also known as the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant.

According to the report, the change in plans will align the start of production for the 2027 model with the end of production for the 2026 model, which is scheduled for December 11. However, it should be noted that the new model year does not bring any substantial changes.

GM instructed dealers to begin taking orders earlier this month and to start processing them starting November 5. However, the date when the first units will begin to be delivered is unknown.

The decision to move up production of the 2027 model is noteworthy because the Factory Zero plant has been operating since last year with only one shift, due to low demand for the vehicles produced there.
