MEXICO – President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reported this Monday that he will propose Graciela Márquez Colín, current minister of the Economy, to the Governing Board of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).

In her place, said López Obrador, Tatiana Clouthier Carrillo will enter, who was the coordinator of his campaign for the Presidency.

“The appointment of Márquez Colín must be ratified by the Senate. The changes do not have to do with a gender quota. It has to do with the need to have men and women characterized by honesty in public service," said the national president. "In the case of Tatiana, she is a woman with principles, with integrity, honesty and she is going to help us to continue promoting economic activity in the country and to have good relations with the business sector, with the labor sector; to continue promoting foreign trade. That was the reason why I decided to appoint her minister of Economy," Obrador stated.

On the other hand, López Obrador proposed Galia Borja to occupy the position of deputy governor of the Bank of Mexico (BANXICO).

"I am going to propose to the Senate of the Republic two appointments for deputy governor of the Bank of Mexico and member of the Governing Board of the same Bank, I am proposing Galia Borja Gómez.
