Guanajuato Airport Opens Facilities for Its Community Training Center

Guanajuato International Airport has inaugurated its new facilities for the Community Training Center (CCF), a project spearheaded by the GAP Foundation, which launched the initiative in 2021 with temporary facilities that now have a permanent home within the airport terminal, with the aim of expanding its educational and training programs.

Since its opening, the CCF has provided free educational services to more than 10,000 members of the airport community and surrounding areas through academic remedial courses, aviation training, hospitality and business training, as well as vocational workshops. Today, the center has more than 2,000 registered participants, and during its first week of operation at the new facilities, more than 500 people took part in various activities.

“Opening these doors today marks the evolution of a project that has grown alongside its community and now features a space designed to continue reaching more people,” said Mariana González Navarro, manager of the GAP Foundation, who noted that the project aims to promote social mobility through education.

The director explained that the center’s impact will not be measured solely by the number of people who use the facilities. “For the GAP Foundation, the true value of this space will not lie solely in how many people walk through its doors, but in how far they can go thanks to what they learn and build here,” she said.

Similarly, the new facilities at the community training center serve as a training site for air traffic controllers as part of a partnership with Mexican Airspace Navigation Services (SENEAM). As a result, the center is expanding its participation in programs related to both community education and the aviation sector.
