Guanajuato Puerto Interior Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary

Guanajuato Puerto Interior (GPI) is celebrating 20 years of operation with 140 companies from 19 countries, a cumulative investment of US$6.5 billion, and more than 40,000 direct jobs—a figure that demonstrates the complex’s consolidation as one of Guanajuato’s leading industrial and logistics hubs.

The project began with the goal of creating opportunities for employment, training, and economic development within the state; decades later, its growth has brought together international investment, business activity, and talent on a platform that contributes to Guanajuato’s export capacity.

The governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Muñoz Ledo, emphasized the project’s longevity thanks to its long-term strategy. For his part, GPI’s CEO, Hector López Santillana, stressed that the complex’s consolidation required planning, continuity across administrations, and collaboration among companies, educational institutions, and authorities. In addition, the model maintains ties with academic institutions.

The development of Puerto Interior provides infrastructure and services for the people who work within the complex. Twenty years after its creation, the US$6.5 billion in cumulative investment, the 140 companies operating there, and the more than 40,000 jobs demonstrate the scale that Guanajuato Puerto Interior has reached.

Furthermore, Puerto Interior will enter its next phase, which will be based on the integration of investment, supply chain management, talent development, and business development—elements that can strengthen Guanajuato’s position within Mexico’s production chains.
