Guanajuato ranks fourth in exports

GUANAJUATO – The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) presented the results of Quarterly Exports by Federal Entity (ETEF), corresponding to the months of April to June 2021, in which Guanajuato registered an annual increase of 144%, compared to the same period in 2020.

The list of the five states that recorded increases in the value of their exports are Puebla with 305%, Tabasco 168%, Aguascalientes 166.8%, Guanajuato 144% and Campeche with 133.9%.

INEGI also mentioned that in the second quarter of this year, the states that contributed the most to the total value of exports were: Chihuahua with 13.7%, Coahuila de Zaragoza 12%, Baja California 10.5%, Nuevo Leon 9.7% and Tamaulipas with 6.8%; together these five states contributed 52.7%.

The state of Guanajuato also ranked among the five with the highest contribution in exports related to the manufacture of transportation equipment in the second quarter, with a 12.5% share of the national total.

The leading regions in terms of exports were Coahuila with 21.1%, Guanajuato 12.5%, Nuevo Leon 9.7%, Puebla 8.2% and Chihuahua with 8.2%.

In terms of agribusiness, Guanajuato is in fifth position with the highest exports during the same period, with a share of 5.2%, along with Jalisco, which recorded the same percentage.

Guanajuato managed to export a total of US$194.5 million in this economic sector, with an annual variation of 12.4%.
