Hidalgo to Host Mexico’s Largest Development Hub

The federal government has authorized the start of construction on the largest Economic Development Hub for Well-being under Plan México, to be located in Hidalgo, with an investment of at least US$544 million and the creation of 5,000 permanent jobs.

The industrial park in Zapotlán will cover 922 hectares, making it the largest of the 15 Economic Development Hubs for Well-being planned under Plan México across 14 states, the Ministry of Economy announced in a press release.

DEWA will oversee the industrial park's urbanization, with plans to complete the project in five phases. The development will include industrial infrastructure, renewable energy facilities, water reuse systems, and social services, including health centers, a daycare center, a preschool, a public library, and sports facilities.

Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard noted that the project will incorporate sustainability criteria, including water conservation and the use of renewable energy, as well as services designed to promote community well-being.
