Index Nuevo León Prepares for SME Certification

PROCIM (Trusted Supplier for the Manufacturing Industry), the new initiative by Index Nuevo León, aims to strengthen supply chains in the region by creating operational certainty, reducing risks before signing contracts, and opening up opportunities for more local SMEs to become part of Nuevo León’s export engine.

PROCIM not only serves as a contact directory, but also functions as a pre-evaluation system. After three years of technical work and internal development, the organization created its own methodology—registered with the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI)—to audit local suppliers and verify that they actually have the infrastructure to meet the demands of large multinational corporations.

To award the “trusted supplier” seal to companies that pass the process, Javier Purata, the agency’s Procurement Coordinator, explained that PROCIM will subject the candidates to a technical review in four strategic areas: Production, Logistics, Finance, and Quality.

The process takes place through an interactive digital platform where applicants upload their documentation for review. Once validated, they receive a digital certificate and a public profile where purchasing departments can view their performance metrics in real time.

The initiative aims to increase the participation of local companies in the state manufacturing market, given that, in the first half of 2026 alone, IMMEX sector exports in Nuevo León reached US$20.7 million—a 9% year-over-year increase—accounting for 65% of the state’s total exports and maintaining its position as the national leader.

Although in Nuevo León, 39% of the inputs for these industries are already of Mexican origin—above the national average of 30%—PROCIM’s goal is to increase that figure and connect with more previously audited SMEs.
