INDEX Proposes a Work Plan for Jalisco
Salvador Maese Barraza, president of INDEX Mexicali and candidate for president of the National Council of Maquiladora and Export Manufacturing Industries (INDEX), has proposed replicating the model of technological development, specialized talent, and innovation that has made Jalisco a benchmark for the export industry.
During his visit to Guadalajara, Maese presented his work plan to the INDEX Occidente Assembly, where he proposed that the sector draw on the experiences gained in various regions of the country to develop a national agenda.
The businessman explained that Jalisco’s evolution as an export powerhouse and its development in technology sectors, in addition to the training of specialized talent by universities and companies.
Based on that experience, he proposed creating new committees at the national level focused on talent development, innovation, technology transfer, and best manufacturing practices—areas that currently do not have specific committees within the national INDEX.
“We have focused heavily on committees dealing with taxation, foreign trade, labor, health, and the environment, but we need to move forward and create our own agenda to address the diverse and rapidly changing world we are living in,” stated Maese Barraza.
