Mexican low-cost carrier Interjet announced that it has added to its fleet the first of eight Airbus A321neo that it will receive this year, making it the first airline in Mexico to operate these aircraft with eco-efficient engines.

The aircraft will be equipped with screens in high resolution and will have the ability to provide Wi-Fi service. The network installed by Panasonic will allow passengers to navigate, send emails and use social networks such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Julio Gamero, commercial executive director of Interjet, said in a statement that the Airbus A321neo is equipped with CFM Leap X1A engines, which allow a reduction in the acoustic footprint of 50%, a saving of up to 20% in fuel consumption and a reduction of the emission of gases in about 5,000 tons per year.

"The new A321neo will allow Interjet to respond efficiently to the growing demand, transporting more passengers with lower operational costs," said Rafael Alonso, president of Airbus for Latin America and the Caribbean.

The new Airbus A321neo aircraft from Interjet is configured to carry 192 passengers with seats of Italian design Slim type of the Geven brand.

Additionally, they will have projection technology called eXO, which is composed of retractable large-format projection monitors from 12 inches to 1080p and with the possibility of receiving wireless content transmission in the future.
