ITSUR Opens an Electromobility Laboratory in Guanajuato

The Higher Technological Institute of Southern Guanajuato (ITSUR) inaugurated a new electromobility laboratory, a facility designed to strengthen specialized training, research, innovation, and technology transfer related to the energy transition.

The project represents an investment of US$119,000, funded through the Upper Secondary Education Expansion Program (PROEXES). According to ITSUR, the laboratory is the only one of its kind among the state’s universities and is expected to directly benefit 65% of the institution’s student body.

The facility is equipped with specialized equipment for conducting practical exercises related to various propulsion technologies and systems for electric vehicles. Its facilities include: a training platform for permanent magnet synchronous motors, a platform for training in the operation of AC induction motors, and another platform designed for training in motor controllers.

In addition, the laboratory has a training platform for battery management systems and a training platform for fully functional electric vehicles.

This new infrastructure is part of the Technological Innovation and Digitalization initiative, which aims to make digital tools and specialized training accessible to the public and help bridge connectivity gaps and close the technological divide.

The project is linked to the strategic priority “Guanajuato is a Calling,” which was established in the State Government’s Program and aims to strengthen the region’s potential by developing the knowledge economy and fostering connections between teacher training, innovation, technology, and the productive sectors of each region.

For this reason, the laboratory aims to contribute to an educational program focused on entrepreneurship, employability, and the development of life and work skills, particularly in a region where there is a need to strengthen technical and specialized skills.
