Jalisco and Nuevo León sign an energy agreement

Jalisco and Nuevo León have formalized a collaboration agreement to strengthen the energy transition and energy security through the exchange of knowledge, technical capabilities, and best practices, with a joint agenda focused on energy efficiency, electromobility, innovation, and talent development.

It is important to highlight that both entities rank first and second nationwide in distributed generation and, together, account for nearly one out of every four megawatts (MW) installed in Mexico. The agreement aims to combine the capabilities of these two industrial and technological development hubs, as well as to share experiences, identify opportunities, and prepare projects that foster economic growth and attract investment.

The agreement has been signed by the Nuevo León State Renewable Energy Agency, the Nuevo León Undersecretariat for Investment, Innovation, and Artificial Intelligence, the Jalisco Secretariat for Sustainable Energy Development, and the Jalisco State Energy Agency (AEEJ).

The collaboration will involve, in part, the exchange of experiences with companies and clusters; additionally, the agenda covers topics such as industrial efficiency and competitiveness, distributed generation and storage, energy resilience, electromobility, innovation, and talent development.

The agreement also aims to carry out training, certification, and engagement initiatives with universities and technology centers, while the entities work to identify projects that can be coordinated with federal authorities and productive sectors, in accordance with the requirements of each state.

Representing the Government of Jalisco were Manuel Herrera Vega, Secretary of Sustainable Energy Development, and Enrique Rubio, Director General of the AEEJ. Representing Nuevo León were Daniel Sada, Director General of the State Renewable Energy Agency, and Emmanuel Loo, Undersecretary of Investment, Innovation, and Artificial Intelligence at the Secretariat of Economy.

Jalisco and Nuevo León will continue to build an agenda that defines projects, responsible parties, indicators, and monitoring mechanisms, with the aim of ensuring the continuity of collaborative efforts and strengthening the competitiveness, energy security, and economic development of both states.
