Jalisco Promotes the Sale of Its Microenterprises

In an effort to promote the sustainability and growth of microbusinesses in Jalisco, the Secretariat of Economic Development (Sedeco), the Federation of National Chambers of Commerce (Fecanaco), and the Employers' Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex) jointly launched the “Mi Negocio Vende Más” initiative.

This is a professional development program designed to provide practical tools to improve the operations, financial management, and business strategy of small businesses.

In its first phase, the program expects to benefit up to 100 microenterprises in the retail and service sectors that are formally established in Jalisco and have employer registration.

Mauro Garza, the general coordinator of Growth and Economic Development, reported that in Jalisco, 80% of microenterprises have not survived their first five years of operation due to a lack of cash flow or the absence of a business strategy; his organization’s methodologies, however, provide strategic planning that enables these businesses to secure better financial terms.

“We are also implementing Artificial Intelligence through PLAi, our innovation platform, which can help keep their finances in order or assist with sales planning, and this can really make a difference in enabling these companies to reach their fifth, sixth, or eighth year—so that they are focused not on survival, but on growth,” the official emphasized.

The program consists of 32 hours, divided into four modules of eight hours each, focusing on customer experience, business strategy and positioning, financial and operational organization, and practical management tools.

Through the program, each company will begin with an initial assessment to determine its level of operational, financial, and commercial development, identify areas of opportunity, and establish specific priorities for action.

Companies will have access to tools applicable to their daily operations, including a basic customer service protocol, a financial organizational structure, a clearly defined value proposition and business strategy, as well as a simple system for tracking business performance. The program’s methodology is based on an assessment conducted in collaboration with academia, which helps identify the key needs of microenterprises.
