Japanese automotive companies have installed about 1,100 operations in Mexico due to the growth of this industry in the country, including sales offices, logistic warehouses and manufacturing sites, said the director general of Japan External Trade Organization (Jetro), Tadashi Minemura.

During the closing of the first Automotive Industry Business Meeting of ProMĂ©xico-Jetro, where participants sought to strengthen the value chains in the Mexican automotive sector, the official explained that this is the first business meeting focused on promoting companies established in Mexico to become suppliers of first-class and carrier companies.

The meeting was attended by 17 buyers, including BMW, Ford, General Motors and ZF, among others, and more than 67 automotive supplier companies established in Mexico, which together generated about 330 business meetings.

Besides Tadashi Minemura, the event was attended by the head of the ProMexico Sector Development Unit, Cesar Fragoso, and the executive director of the ProMexico Automotive Sector, Armando Cortes.
