Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Takes Off-Road Capability to New Heights
Designed to take the name to new heights, Stellantis unveiled the new Trailhawk variant of the Jeep Cherokee, which will debut as a 2027 model with the authentic off-road capability that only the brand can offer.
With an estimated combined fuel economy of 31 miles per gallon (mpg) and best-in-class off-road capabilities, the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk embodies the modern, versatile SUV.
“The Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk is an exceptional vehicle and earned its Trail Rated badge after passing a series of rigorous tests,” said Branden Coté, executive director of the division. “This SUV combines the authentic 4×4 off-road capability that the Trailhawk badge represents with hybrid efficiency, which is so important to customers in this segment,” the executive said.
For more than a decade, the Trailhawk badge has consistently represented the most advanced 4×4 systems, innovative suspension technologies, and distinctive design, and the Cherokee was one of the Jeep brand’s first Trailhawk models.
The Trail Rated program pushes Jeep vehicles to the limit across numerous parameters, including conquering some of the world’s most challenging environments.
For the 2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, engineers put the SUV through some of the most extreme environments to far exceed what the average customer will encounter. This included validation trips to some of the most challenging terrain in the southwestern United States.
Engineers tested the vehicle at Sand Hollow to ensure exceptional performance on smooth rock and sand, both in terms of underbody protection and sensitive components; in Moab, the Cherokee Trailhawk tackled some of the most well-known off-road obstacles to optimize articulation, ground clearance, traction, and much more.
In short, this is an SUV that boasts the following class-leading specifications: a standard approach angle of 28.8 degrees, a departure angle of 31.8 degrees, and a breakover angle of 21.9 degrees.
