Mexico Attracts US$34.9 Million in Foreign Direct Investment

Mexico recorded a Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of US$34,9 million in the first semester of the year. This figure, which is higher in the period between January and June, shows growth of 2.1% compared with the US$34,2 million originally reported for the same period last year, according to the Mexican Ministry of Economy.

The result shows an all-time high for the first half of the year, maintaining the growing trajectory of foreign investment in the country. According to the ministry, this is compared with the first semester of 2021 for the same period this year. The Foreign Direct Investment has doubled, rising from US$18,4 million to US$34,9 million, representing an accumulated growth of 89%.7%.

During the second semester of 2026, US$10,4 million was recorded in FDI, a figure that represents a 3.5% decline from the US$10,8 million originally reported a year ago. The Ministry of Economy has attributed the variation to a higher base of comparison. It has signaled that the April-June figures are the second-highest level in the last 16 years.

Meanwhile, by federal entity, Mexico City received US$16,8 million, Nuevo Leon US$3,7 million, Estado de Mexico US$2,1 million, Baja California US$ 1,7 million, and Jalisco US$1,4 million. The five entities accounted for 73.9% of FDI in the first semester of the year.
