NAFIN & BANCOMEXT: New director announced

Carlos Torres Rosas took office as the new CEO of Nacional Financiera (NAFIN) and the National Bank for Foreign Trade (BANCOMEXT), following his appointment by Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.

The new head of both development banks holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Bath in the United Kingdom and studied Finance and Investments at the Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus University in the Netherlands.

Until June of this year, Torres served as technical secretary of the Office of the President of the Republic and general coordinator of Welfare Programs, whose responsibilities included the physical and financial monitoring of the Mexican government’s priority programs and projects.

He was responsible for ensuring compliance with agreements and directives from the federal executive branch by government agencies and public entities, as well as for coordinating the planning, execution, and evaluation of the work carried out by the regional offices of the Welfare Programs in the states.

Upon assuming leadership of NAFIN and BANCOMEXT, Torres Rosas emphasized his commitment to honoring President Claudia Sheinbaum’s trust with honesty and professionalism. He also noted that he will work to ensure these institutions increasingly contribute to the country’s development, within the framework of financing the Plan Mexico strategy, by promoting projects that generate well-being and strengthen the moral economy.
