Navistar invests US$120 million to expand its operations in NL

ESCOBEDO, NL - Navistar will invest US$120 million over the next three years to expand the cab painting area at its plant located in Escobedo, Nuevo León, considered one of the company's largest factories and which directly employs 6,200 people.

Navistar's Executive Vice President of Operations, Michael Grahe, stated that this investment will accelerate the company's progress in anticipating customer needs and market demand, while giving it the opportunity to increase its quality and sustainability efforts at the Escobedo plant.

Bernardo Valenzuela, President of Navistar Mexico and Export, said the investment is a sign of the company's long-term commitment to Nuevo Leon and Mexico, while continuing to expand its operation in the country.

Since its opening in 1998, the Escobedo plant has produced more than 850,000 commercial vehicles. It is also home to the only 100 percent battery-electric truck produced in Mexico.

With an area of more than 110 hectares, the Escobedo plant has a production capacity of 67,000 units per year, which are exported mainly to the United States and Canada.

Following the announcement of the expansion, the governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García Sepúlveda, said that the state remains the economic engine of Mexico and will soon be the economic engine of Latin America.

García Sepúlveda mentioned that this type of investment is a reflection of the state's potential to attract foreign investment.

Nuevo Leon's Secretary of Economy, Ivan Rivas, pointed out that 24 percent of the investments that came to the state during the past year, correspond to the automotive industry.

"We are proud that companies in this sector, such as Navistar, continue to expand while generating jobs and opportunities for families," said Rivas.
